Not all products are created equal. Some exist, some are still a twinkle in a factory’s eye. Here’s what Group Buy, Pre-Order and In Stock actually mean, so you know exactly what you’re signing up for...
(Group Buy): cheapest, but with a wait
Group Buys are the keyboard world’s version of backing something on kickstarter: you pay now, a factory somewhere starts making magic, and months later it turns up looking (hopefully) just like the pictures. If you’re the kind of person who tracks ships on MarineTraffic for fun, this one’s for you.
- You’re paying before the thing even exists. Production hasn’t started yet; your order helps fund the run. Only open for a limited time advertised on the product page. Once the time is over, you can no longer order.
- Price: This is the best price you will see on that item. It’s discounted roughly 20% versus the eventual retail price as a thank you for your patience.
- Timing: Nothing is on a shelf. The Group Buy has to close, the order goes to the manufacturer, they build it, ship it to us, then we ship it to you. That can be months but we provide an estimate on the product page and live updates available at all times.
- Dates move: Timelines are estimates. Factories slip, boats get delayed, customs gets grumpy. When dates change, we update our public Group Buy Update pages rather than quietly hoping nobody notices.
- MOQ's: By joining the Group Buy you help to get it to the mythical MOQ numbers. Not joining can mean the death or cancellation of the product.
- Who this is for: If you want the best price and are happy to wait, this is your lane. If you want to help a product over the line, get it made and be part of its success, its for you. If you’re in a rush, don't like waiting, or get anxiety waiting for things this might not be for you.

(Pre-Order): already in motion, still cheaper
Pre-Orders are for people who slept through the Group Buy but still want in before the herd. The thing is already on the production line; you’re basically calling dibs on a unit before it hits the shelves, with a bit of a price break for being early rather than last-minute.
- The product is being manufactured right now. You’re reserving a unit from that batch.
- Price: Still cheaper than full retail, but not as low as the Group Buy pricing. Think “early bird”, not “day one backer.”
- Timing: Your order ships when the batch lands with us. It’s closer than a Group Buy, but still not “buy it today, get it tomorrow.”
- Limited slots: Pre-Orders are capped by how many units we’ve got coming in. Once those are spoken for, that’s it until (or if) it goes in stock.
- Who this is for: You missed the Group Buy, still want a deal, and can wait a bit.
All of our current Pre-Orders are Here
(In Stock): full price, fast gratification
In Stock is the boring, sensible option: the keyboard gear actually exists, it’s sitting in our warehouse, and if you hit ‘buy’ we fling it at a courier instead of a factory. No drama, no epic saga, just instant gratification and a slightly lighter wallet for the privilege.
- The product physically exists at PTHQ in Yorkshire. You’re not funding anything; you’re buying something that’s already here.
- Price: Full retail. No discounts for waiting, because there’s nothing to wait for.
- Shipping: Order before 2pm on a weekday and it usually ships the same day; otherwise the next working day. Delivery typically runs a few days depending on where you are.
- Limited stock: Many In Stock items are leftovers or extras from Group Buys and Pre-Orders. Once they’re gone, they’re gone unless that product runs again. In Stock products can and will sell out...
- Who this is for: You want it soon, maybe yesterday, and you’re fine paying for speed.
Whichever route you pick (Group Buy, Pre-Order, or In Stock) the deal is simple: you either trade time for money, or money for time.
If you want the story, the updates, the wait, and the smug ‘I was there from day one’ feeling, grab a Group Buy or Pre-Order.
If you just want to open a box this week and get clacking, hit In Stock and don’t look back. But bear in mind the Group Buy has to hit MOQ to get made...
Just choose the lane that suits your patience level and budget, and we’ll make sure the keyboard at the end of it is worth the ride.
